Eligibility
Essential requirements are as follows:
- By the starting date of employment an applicant will have a PhD.
- An applicant will have demonstrated excellence in research achievements of applied mathematics/ mathematical biology in developmental biology, immunology, or human disease field, as evidenced by publications and also possibly presentations and other scientific activities.
- An applicant will possess sufficient motivation to engage in and develop interdisciplinary projects.
- An applicant will have the ability to manage their research and associated activities.
Starting Date
April 1, 2025 or the earliest possible date thereafter (adjustable according to individual requirements).
Terms
Two (2) years until March 2027 in principle. (The contract will be renewed annually depending on achievements. Renewal of the contract is determined by taking into account the work volume at the time of the expiration of the contract period, work performance, attitude, ability, the status of progress of work performed, and the acceptance of the external funding for which the employee is employed).
Job Descriptions
ASHBi (https://ashbi.kyoto-u.ac.jp) will investigate the core concepts of human biology. The institute is seeking suitable candidates for a Program-Specific Researcher (Postdoctoral Fellow) to accelerate its mission.
The Mathematical Biology and Medicine (BiMed-Math) Group of Professor Seirin-Lee will approach a variety of topics in immunology and pattern formation of cell and developmental biology and clinical medicine with model-driven and data-driven mathematical modeling. In particular, the successful candidate will join this group to develop into a leading interdisciplinary researcher, conducting high calibre research in interdisciplinary projects with clinical medicine.
Working Conditions
Five (5) working days per week (days off: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, and Foundation Day, as per University guidelines)
Working hours: 38 hours 45 minutes per week under a discretionary labor system.
- If the discretionary work system for specialized work is not applied, the employee works from 8:30AM to 5:15PM with one hour break (12:00-13:00).
- Overtime may be required when necessary.
Salary
Paid in compliance with the rules of Kyoto University, depending on skills and experience.
Allowance
No allowance (such as for commuting, housing, bonuses, etc.) will be provided.
